Natural resources law is an integral part of the legal system, as it governs the use, allocation, and management of minerals, energy, land, water, and biota. ClientEarth, UK and TaylorCrabbe are offering a legal internship program that will provide an opportunity for law students to learn about natural resources law and gain practical experience in this field. TaylorCrabbe is a law firm that specializes in natural resources law, and ClientEarth is a non-profit environmental law organization that uses the law to create systemic change that protects the planet and its inhabitants. The internship will be a comprehensive and rigorous program that will enable interns acquire skills and knowledge about the legal framework for natural resources while giving them exposure to real-world projects as they work with experienced attorneys.

The primary objective of the legal internship program is to provide law students with an opportunity to learn and gain experience in the field of natural resources law. The legal internship will enable interns to develop legal skills, research, and drafting abilities, and gain practical knowledge about the legal framework for natural resources. The legal internship will also provide interns with an opportunity to work on real-world projects and gain experience working with attorneys and clients. The interns will also gain knowledge on both Ghanaian and European environmental law and policies.

Duration and Location:
The legal internship program will run for six (6) weeks from July, 2024 to August, 2024. The legal internship will be held at the TaylorCrabbe’s office located at No 4, Pawpaw Street, East Legon, Accra and interns will be required to work full time during the legal internship period.

Legal Internship Activities:
The legal internship program will include the following activities:

  1. Research and Analysis: Interns will be required to conduct legal research and
    analysis on various aspects of natural resources law, including environmental
    regulations, mineral rights, land use, and water rights.
  2. Drafting: Interns will be exposed to drafting legal documents, including memos,
    briefs, and pleadings.
  3. Client Interaction: Interns will have the opportunity to interact with clients and
    participate in client meetings and negotiations.
  4. Court Appearances: Depending on their level of experience, interns may have the
    opportunity to appear in court with experienced attorneys. They will also have the
    opportunity to attend agency meetings, and other events related to natural resources law.
  5. Training and Seminars: Interns will receive training on legal writing, research, and other practical skills. They will also attend seminars and workshops on natural resources law.

  • The legal internship program is open to law students who have completed at least one (1) year of their LLB program or its equivalent.
  • Applicants should have a strong academic record, good research and writing skills, and a keen interest in natural resources law.
  • Applicants should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a team.

    Students will be paid a competitive stipend to fund their time at the Firm.

    under Ghanaian law.
